The Carpet Cleaner

I usually read about two books a week of various genres. Even though I have a 2B read list probably approaching 1000, I’m always on the lookout for interesting new books by either looking at “best books of the month “ each month or listening to various reviews on book tube. I’m saying this only to increase my credibility for my opinion that reading this book will be worth your time. For avid readers, books are the ultimate pleasure, but still can also take on the aspect of “been there, done that.” I recommend this book because it has a flavor that makes it seem different. This book shines for any reader looking for special needs characters. The book also has a light religious aspect that will appeal to those searching for a positive Christian presentation. I’m usually turned off by overly religious books, but fortunately this book is never preachy, and the religious aspect is appropriate to the storyline and not forced. The theme of acceptance and toleration is presented wonderfully through the poignant, sympathetic characters. Best of all, the plot is multifaceted, well developed and contains some interesting surprises. There are parts of the book where the plot is tense , and you will not want to stop reading. Highly recommended for parents and counselors of special needs kids, high school students, and those dealing with grief, and also for those struggling to find their place in the world. Compliments to the author for coming up with an atypical title that will stand out on library shelves

This book is a "page-turner." Not a "tear jerker," but definitely has depth. The author touches on a number of different aspects of life, and is contemporary in the story telling. You can tell he has experience in multiple areas. About halfway in, the drama intensifies, but thankfully, doesn't get heavy-handed. Different themes are addressed, but never overly so

An excellent, well written story that will make you feel a range of emotions. You will laugh and possibly cry, but more importantly you will think about life’s challenges and the ability to overcome obstacles. You’ll be convinced that this story came from the lived experience of a caring, intelligent and insightful writer and you will thoroughly enjoy taking the journey
